Every cycle has peaked lower against the curve than the one before. The 2025 high reached only the Still cheap band.

How it's made

log10(price) = 2.4335 × ln(d) − 16.2135

One curve through every daily Bitcoin close since Aug 18, 2010, fitted by least squares on a log scale, where d counts the days since Bitcoin's first block on Jan 3, 2009. The nine bands sit at fixed distances from that curve, and each spans about 1.4× in price.

The curve was fitted on Sep 23, 2026 to 5,881 daily closes. It is frozen: the bands move only when we refit on purpose, and every refit is listed below.

Fits and band changes

  • Sep 23, 2026: fitted to 5,881 daily closes. Bands start 0.45 below the curve, in steps of 0.15 (log10). a = 2.4335, b = -16.2135

Is this a forecast?

No. This is curve-fitting. Nothing makes Bitcoin follow the curve, and the top bands may never be reached again. The band names are a tradition of the chart, not advice.

Questions

What is the Bitcoin rainbow chart?

A chart of Bitcoin's price on a log scale, with colored bands around one long-term growth curve. It shows where today's price sits against the whole history.

Why do other rainbow charts show a different band?

Each site fits its own curve, and some refit it every day, so their bands move. This page uses one fit, dated Sep 23, 2026, with its formula printed, so anyone can check the answer.

How often is it updated?

The price updates once a day. The curve changes only when it is refitted, and each refit is dated on this page.
